Who We Are

Virgil Anderson and Suzie Miller- Gran are the co-owners of the newly refurbished Leighton’s Jewelers, now known as Leighton’s Custom Jewelry and Repair. Leighton’s has been a family- and community-oriented business for more than 65 years and continues to be a staple store in Madera, California.

Suzie Miller- Gran has been in the jewelry business her whole life. She started working for her dad in 2002 during her junior year of high school. She has remained in the store and has held multiple different positions over the years. She learned everything there is to know about jewelry from both her grandfather and father. Virgil Anderson has been a jeweler for over 40 years and has spent most of his life in the industry. He has specialized in custom designs and repairs throughout his career. He has been at Leighton’s for over 20 years and is now one of the co-owners of Leighton’s Custom Jewelry and Repair. He and Suzie work together to create the best possible environment for every customer who walks through the door.

Founded in 1956 by Pat and Leighton Miller as a watch-repair shop located in the Aragon Hotel area on Yosemite Avenue. In 1969, they moved to 111 South D Street, establishing the flagship store that stands today. After 68 years of service, Chris Miller decided to retire—hosting a final liquidation sale at the original Leighton’s store. The business’ next chapter begins with his daughter, Suzie Miller Gran and business partner Virgil  Anderson who are  re-launching it as Leighton’s Custom Jewelry & Repair, focusing on design and repair while continuing the family tradition.
